Trump Picks Robert O’Brien as Next National Security Adviser

President Trump announced on Wednesday morning that he has picked Robert O’Brien to be the next National Security Adviser.

O’Brien, a lawyer, is currently the administration’s envoy for hostage negotiations at the State Department.

According to The Hill:

LOS ANGELES — President Trump on Wednesday announced he intends to name the administration’s envoy for hostage negotiations, Robert O’Brien, as his next national security adviser.

“I have worked long & hard with Robert. He will do a great job!” Trump tweeted.

O’Brien will replace John Bolton, who Trump fired last week and later criticized for failing to align with the administration’s agenda on North Korea and Venezuela.

O’Brien will be Trump’s fourth national security adviser.

President Trump released a shortlist with five names last night and picked O’Brien from that list.
