During an interview, Colorado’s Democrat Gov. Jared Polis shocked some when he declared the Covid-19 emergency “over.” The remark comes as some Democrat governors have already begun re-implementing mask mandates and other rules in an effort to combat the newly discovered omicron variant.
Gov. Polis said that he does not plan to reimplement mask mandates and offered no pity for the unvaccinated who may get sick.
Fox News reports:
“Everybody had more than enough opportunity to get vaccinated,” Polis told Colorado Public Radio on Friday. “Hopefully it’s been at your pharmacy, your grocery store, a bus near you, [or at] big events. At this point, if you haven’t been vaccinated, it’s really your own darn fault.”
“Those who get sick, it’s almost entirely their own darn fault,” he continued. “I don’t want to say that nobody [will get the virus if they’re] vaccinated, but it’s very rare. Just to put it in perspective, of the about 1,400 people hospitalized, less than 200 (or 16%) are vaccinated. And many of them are older or have other conditions. Eighty-four percent of the people in our hospitals are unvaccinated, and they absolutely had every chance to get vaccinated.”
“And at this point, I think it’s almost like they made a deliberate decision not to get vaccinated,” he added. “I still encourage everybody who hasn’t been vaccinated to get protected. And for those who are, make sure to get that booster after six months. The data shows it’s important and very likely even more so with this omicron variant.”
“The emergency is over,” he said. “You know, public health [officials] don’t get to tell people what to wear; that’s just not their job. Public health [officials] would say to always wear a mask because it decreases flu and decreases [other airborne illnesses]. But that’s not something that you require; you don’t tell people what to wear. You don’t tell people to wear a jacket when they go out in winter and force them to [wear it]. If they get frostbite, it’s their own darn fault.

Now we need to see whether the remaining 49 states will follow suit and if so, when. Happy to say that all of the red states never made vaccines or masks mandated since back in the summer. All businesses have been opened and served everyone. If we had cases it was mostly the vaccinated.

Good Job Governor. As one who is unvaccinated & never been healthier. (not even a cold & fully vaccinated with every safe & FDA approved Flu & Pneumonia Vaccine, living on all my same Vitamins, Supplements & Seasonal Cold & Flu Season Supplements, I have no complaints or take no offense to your words concerning we the minority. I know so many thousands of people between Church, Lifelong Friends, In Business, on & on who have never had the vaccines and are still just as healthy & happy as can be. I also know of so many who got the vaccine only to very soon later develop horrible symptoms, side effects & a few of them even died horrible & painful deaths. I also know several who actually got Covid and self quarantined for the week or 2 or whatever it was and said it was like having a slight cold for about 3 days. So for the life of me, I just don’t see why we are called evil or stupid when it is the Vaccinated who are having so many problems and even now spreading it to us the unvaccinated. I think I may go with Ivermectin though now that I know some of the Best Doctors in each State are doing their best to make it available, and like you are brave enough to do what’s best for all of us.
