A recent Ipsos/Reuters survey has shown that former President Donald Trump is still in the lead among potential challengers for the 2024 Republican primary. The survey would go on to reveal that Trump leads among independents, and registered voters prioritize candidates who support increasing police funding, discussing systemic racism, and building a border wall. Trump also leads President Biden among independents. This lead appears to have grown since Trump announced the possibility of arrest at the hands of “woke leftist prosecutor” Alvin Bragg.

Trump Maintains Significant Lead Over Potential GOP Challengers in Ipsos/Reuters Survey

In a recent Ipsos/Reuters survey, former President Donald Trump was found to have a commanding lead over potential challengers in the 2024 Republican primary. The survey included a list of possible candidates, including Governor Ron DeSantis, former Vice President Mike Pence, former U.S. ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, former Rep. Liz Cheney, New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu, Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin, and former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.

Trump Leads by Double-Digits Among Republicans

The results revealed that former President Donald Trump continues to lead the pack with 44% support, followed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis with 30%. Former Vice President Mike Pence came in a distant third place with only 5% support, followed by former Rep. Liz Cheney with 4%, former U.S. ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley with 3%, and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu, Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin, and former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, each receiving 1% support or less.

Trump Also Leads Among Independents

Trump also has an advantage among independents, with 16 percent support compared to DeSantis’s ten percent. However, 34 percent of independents were undecided, while 13 percent indicated they would choose “none” and two percent selected “other.”

Ipsos Survey Reveals Voter Priorities

The Ipsos survey also revealed that registered voters prioritize presidential candidates who support increasing police funding to fight crime (80%), allowing teachers to discuss systemic racism at school (57%), and building a border wall between the U.S. and Mexico (54%).

Trump Leads Biden Among Independents

In addition to his lead over potential challengers, the Ipsos survey found that Trump also leads President Biden among independents, with 29 percent support to Biden’s 21 percent.

Growing Lead Since Announcement of Potential Arrest

This Ipsos/Reuters survey is consistent with others that have shown Trump with a significant lead among potential primary challengers. This lead appears to have grown since Trump announced the possibility of arrest at the hands of “woke leftist prosecutor” Alvin Bragg.
