Former President Donald Trump made a campaign visit to Summerville, South Carolina, becoming the third candidate to do so in Dorchester County. Trump was scheduled to address the crowd later in the afternoon.
Despite the relatively short notice, Trump announced this Summerville event less than two weeks ago. Nevertheless, a sizable crowd had already assembled hours in advance to catch a glimpse of the leading 2024 candidate, former President Donald Trump, in action.

Anticipating the enormous crowd expected for Trump’s South Carolina appearance, some South Carolina Democrats voiced concerns about the possibility of Trump’s presence eclipsing local Republican candidates like Nikki Haley and Tim Scott. Such a scenario could negatively impact their campaigns, potentially widening Trump’s lead further. Trump’s current trajectory suggests that he could outperform many 2024 GOP candidates, even in their home states.
