Recent polling data from key early primary states – Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina – highlight former President Donald Trump’s continued dominance in the Republican primary race. Former Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, previously considered a prominent contender, has seen his support dwindle, trailing at third place in South Carolina.
The Fox Business poll in South Carolina, conducted between July 15-19, placed Trump significantly ahead with 48% support. Nikki Haley, former South Carolina Governor, secured 14%, while DeSantis was a close third with 13%. Senator Tim Scott trailed just behind DeSantis with 10% backing. DeSantis maintains the second position in Iowa and New Hampshire, but other candidates are steadily closing the gap.
The Fox Business poll from Iowa, conducted concurrently with the South Carolina survey, shows Trump leading with 46% support, DeSantis securing 16%, and Scott gaining ground with 11%. New Hampshire’s trends mirror these results: Trump leads at 42%, with DeSantis following at 15%. Scott and former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie each have 8%, pushing DeSantis’s position further into uncertainty.
These poll results suggest Trump’s continued stronghold in the GOP primary race, with other candidates vying to position themselves as the leading competitor. As the primaries advance, these dynamics may shift, but for now, Trump’s support remains robust in these early voting states.
