Doug Burgum, the Governor of North Dakota, sustained an injury in a basketball game with his staff while in Milwaukee. He is one of the eight GOP presidential candidates scheduled for tonight’s primary debate at 9 p.m. ET, which will be hosted by Fox News.

Due to the injury, it remains uncertain whether he will be able to participate in the debate.

Doug Burgum, a Republican figure and entrepreneur, assumed the role of North Dakota’s Governor on December 15, 2016. Before embarking on his political journey, he co-established Great Plains Software, a company that was eventually acquired by Microsoft.

During his tenure as governor, he concentrated on fostering economic variety and spearheading technological advancements. In the 2016 gubernatorial election, Burgum faced off against Democrat Marvin Nelson and Libertarian Marty Riske, securing victory with an impressive majority of over 75% of the votes. His bid for re-election in 2020 also proved successful, garnering him more than 65% of the votes.

Burgum extended his endorsement to former President Donald Trump in both the 2016 and 2020 elections. In turn, Trump supported Burgum during each of his gubernatorial campaigns. Despite his endorsement, Burgum expressed a dual stance by indicating his intention to vote for Trump again while also offering constructive criticism.
