Poll Watch: Trump May Be The Only Candidate Who Beats Biden – As DeSantis Comes Up Short

According to the latest polling conducted by Emerson College, former President Donald Trump is currently leading President Joe Biden in a hypothetical 2024 matchup. According to the poll, Trump has the support of 46% of respondents, while Biden trails behind with 42%. The poll’s findings have raised concerns among Democrats, who are already grappling with a slim majority in both houses of Congress and a polarized political climate. At the time of the 2024 U.S. Presidential election, President Biden will be 81 years old, which has raised concerns about his age and overall performance. Despite these concerns, Democrats currently have no other viable options for the election and may have to rely on the 81-year-old President Biden as their candidate.
Meanwhile, the poll also suggests that Biden has a slight advantage over potential Republican contenders, such as Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis. However, DeSantis, who is considered Trump’s biggest competition for the Republican nomination, currently leads the field with 25% support. The poll, conducted from February 24-25 with 1,060 registered voters, has a margin of error of 2.9 percentage points.

Meanwhile, Biden leads former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in separate match-ups, with 44% to 40% for DeSantis and 40% to 37% for Haley. DeSantis is considered Trump’s biggest competition for the Republican nomination and garners 25% support in a hypothetical 2024 Republican primary, with Trump leading the field at 55%.

The Emerson College poll was conducted from Feb. 24-25 with 1,060 registered voters and has a margin of error of 2.9 percentage points.
