Sadly, most liberals aren’t as subtle as the Onion. The left is eating their own because Democrats caved to President Trump on the SchumerShutdown, according to the Daily Caller. Amnesty activist Rep. Luis Gutierrez(D-Ill.) said of Democrats, “They caved. They blinked. That’s what they do.” Leftist groups with dubious funding sources took to Twitter to lament how little President Trump gave them.
“Your constituents want you to fight. How can you possibly not understand that?” tweeted Leah Greenberg, co-executive director of the ironically named group, Indivisible. Ben Wikler, of the leftist MoveOn.org, said: “What’s clear from today’s joke deal is that the grass-roots movement demanding unity and courage has a lot of work to do to ensure that the whole Democratic Caucus is ready to fight when the time comes.” Crista Jimenez of United We Dream tweeted: “Dems failed to fight & use their leverage to protect immigrant youth… We won’t be fooled. This vote means deportation.”
In case you missed it, polls warned Democrats that shutting down the government for illegal immigrants wasn’t a good political move. The Democrats’ trouble is that the base didn’t get the memo. The result is that leftist activists are in full tantrum mode as President Trump took a strategic win to the bank. Republicans got to be the grown-ups who keep the government running while the Democrat base loses it over illegal immigrants; elected Democrats are just along for the ride.
