Bernie “ A nation in which life expectancy is actually in decline”
Bernie used this to illustrate the suffering endured by those who cannot afford health care in America. While it is true the life expectancy rate is on the decline it has not been on the decline because of inability to receive care, it is on the decline because of the suicide and opioid epidemics. In the same CDC report that sites an increase in deaths because of suicide and drug overdose, we see a decline in cancer deaths.
