During an interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, President Joe Biden made multiple claims about the border crisis downplaying how bad it is, and trying to place all of the blame on President Trump.
Well, his claims were destroyed. The Daily Wire reported on the interview and how the claims were destroyed but we compiled a list below of the claims and how they were false.
Claim 1: The Biden Administration is not separating children from their families:
FALSE: From The Daily Wire: The New York Times reported earlier this month that thousands of unaccompanied minors were being kept in “facilities akin to jails as the Biden administration struggles to find room for them in shelters.” The Times reported this week that “children are being forced to sleep on gym mats with foil sheets and go for days without showering” and that “many children” had “not been allowed outdoors for days on end.” USA Today reported during the first week in March that “the Biden administration is still sheltering children separated from close family members in federal facilities for weeks on end.”

Claim 2: Biden claims he is not responsible for the border crisis:
FALSE: Even Biden’s National Security Council Coordinator Roberta Jacobson admitted that Biden’s policies were at least in part. driving the crisis, and the left-leaning Mexican government issued a warning about how Biden is “stoking illegal immigration” and “creating business for organized crime.”

Claim 3: Trump completely dismantled the asylum system:
FALSE: According to Lora Ries, a senior research fellow for homeland security & former acting DHS deputy chief of staff, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services hired around 500 additional asylum officers to advance the Trump administration’s priority of reducing the asylum backlog. The Trump administration also granted asylum to over 45,000 people in 2019, the highest total since 1990.
Claim 4: Biden claims that violence in the northern triangle, hurricanes, and the pandemic is driving the surge.
FALSE: Former DHS Secretary Chad Wolf dispelled this claim by stating that there is no dramatic difference from years past that could explain this surge. Wolf blamed it on Biden’s horrific messaging that if you make it to the border you will receive amnesty. Border apprehensions nearly doubled from the summer of 2020 to February of 2021.
Claim 5: Biden claims he got an $800 billion bipartisan bill passed to address the root cause of the crisis:
FALSE: The bill was only for $750 million.
Claim 6: A vast majority of those apprehended at the border are being sent back, immediately:
FALSE: The Biden administration has only expelled 41% of family units in February compared to 76% of family units being expelled in December under the Trump administration. This disparity will incentivize cartels to capitalize on this and push more family units across the border.
