An elementary school in Colorado is facing fierce criticism for racially segregating its playground. Centennial Elementary School in Denver, Colorado is holding “families of color playground night” in an effort to promote equity.

The Washington Examiner reports:

“Our school leaders met with some of the black families whose children attend our school to determine ways for these families to feel more included in our school community,” a Denver Public Schools spokesperson said in a statement.

“Some of these families shared with us that, since the only time many of them see one another is at drop-off and pick-up times, we host some events where black families can meet one another, connect with one another, and share their experiences about the school with one another. We are honoring their request.”

The event is part of the district’s effort and commitment to foster and preserve inclusion and belonging, the statement said.

Many have called out the school for the egregious behavior and a law professor at Denver University is questioning if the event violates the state constitution.

  1. Just one more example of how individuals in positions of power & influence are promoting racial divisions along with the parents who buy into this kind of thing, instead of including children and parents of all ethnicities in a similar type of get together so that they can interact with each other as they should !!!

  2. I don’t recall any of the major news networks calling this out in any way, shape, or form. Had they, it certainly would have been a hotbed of comments…

  3. What a great idea! Discourage racism by hosting a racist event. It’s what we’ve come to expect when government comes to help.

  4. ” . . . meet one another, connect with one another, and share their experiences about the school with one another . . . .” And presumably plan their next white guilt trip.

  5. Are these fools going to bring back the KKK next week along with new Jim Crow laws? America thought this was settled when we nationally accepted Martin Luther King’s Dream. What is wrong with you people that continue racism?

  6. I heard about and I’ve made such great money. It’s really user friendly and I’m just so happy that I found out about it. The potential with this is endless.
    Here’s what I do…

  7. It took this country years to desegregate the school system because it was unfair and caused division based on color and now these teachers want to reinstate this horrible policy. All parents and children should fight this .Young kids don’t see color unless the adults point it out to them.If the parents are looking for a different type of social meeting they should do it outside of the school.

    1. When are ALL PEOPLE going to wake up to this craziness????
Black people should flat out reject this nonsense.

  8. And that’s pretty much what happens in society…people with similar interests and backgrounds socialize…it’s a fact of life…has nothing to do with racism.
