Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has officially filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission to run for President of the United States. He is expected to make a formal announcement on Twitter and have a virtual conversation with Twitter CEO Elon Musk.
Despite being considered a top Republican contender, DeSantis has not experienced a significant rise in the polls thus far. His upcoming discussion with Elon Musk holds the potential for increasing his visibility and maintaining momentum. However, if DeSantis fails to make an impact, Trump’s current lead may become insurmountable.
He joins a crowded field of Republican candidates, including Trump, Sen. Tim Scott, Nikki Haley, Vivek Ramaswamy, Asa Hutchinson, Perry Johnson, and Larry Elder, with multiple others expected to enter the race.
According to Fox News:
Even though he’s been on the 2024 sidelines, DeSantis for months has been in the top tier of Republican nomination contenders, behind former President Donald Trump and ahead of the rest of the field of actual and likely candidates in nearly every GOP primary poll.
