During a Labor Day event in Salem, New Hampshire, Mike Pence, former Vice President of the United States and a presidential hopeful, encountered a protester who disrupted his speech.
The protester, holding a blue t-shirt featuring Donald Trump’s mugshot and the words “NEVER SURRENDER,” stood up and booed Pence as he took the stage.

Throughout Pence’s remarks, the protester held up the t-shirt, displaying the image and message to the entire crowd. Trump’s mugshot had gained attention the previous month when he turned himself in to authorities in Fulton County, Georgia, facing his fourth indictment related to efforts to overturn the 2020 election results.
Pence, one of five presidential candidates speaking at the event, faced hecklers and protesters who view him as a traitor for not blocking the certification of the 2020 election results. Pence, however, defended his actions, stating that he had a constitutional duty to oversee the certification of Electoral College votes on January 6, 2021.
Despite his high name recognition and former position as Vice President, Pence struggled to gain traction in the polls and remained in the middle of the pack among the numerous candidates vying for the Republican nomination, putting him well behind candidates such as former President Donald Trump, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, and Vivek Ramaswamy. After the Salem event, Pence continued his Labor Day campaign stops in New Hampshire, including a visit to a church event and a barbecue gathering.
