DNC Doubles Down On Lie About Trump Calling Asylum Seekers Animals

In mid-2018 President Trump referred to MS-13 Gang Members as “animals” for their savage behavior and criminal record. This clip has come into the news again as the Democrats have played it at the DNC convention along with other spliced footage that makes it look as if the President was referring to asylum seekers and immigrant children with the term. More from The Daily Caller:

Trump referred to MS-13 gang members as “animals” in a White House briefing in May 2018, PolitiFact reportedMultiple fact checkers debunked the claim that Trump called asylum seekers animals.

The quotation used in the DNC video left out the context of a comment made by Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims to Trump about the challenges of reporting illegal immigrants who are members of MS-13, the Washington Examiner reported.

“We have people coming into the country or trying to come in, we’re stopping a lot of them, but we’re taking people out of the country,” Trump responded. “You wouldn’t believe how bad these people are. These aren’t people. These are animals,” he said.

This is not the first time that the enemies of the President have used this clip out of context and it certainly won’t be the last. The video was later tweeted out by numerous accounts and went viral, causing a new wave of outrage. Deceptive editing is a tactic widely used in politics and is likely to rear its ugly head as the election draws near.
